Our Nail Philosophy: The Truth About Our Techniques

There are many different techniques used in nail salons today, and it can be confusing to know which is best. We have intentionally curated our services to move away from industry shortcuts. Our process is built on what we know works best for our guests and the integrity of their natural nails.

We know you have choices in how you care for your hands. Here is the why behind our specific techniques and the standards we set for every service.

Why We Are an Acrylic-Free Space

We have chosen not to offer traditional acrylics. While they provide length and strength, the application often requires harsh chemicals (monomers) and heavy surface filing that can thin the natural nail over time. We focus on enhancements that work with your nail’s natural flexibility rather than against it.

The Debate: E-Files vs. Hand Filing

You won’t find electric drills or e-files at our stations. While drills are fast, they carry a higher risk of over-filing and heat friction, which can damage the nail bed.

  • Our Choice: We use manual hand filing. It gives our technicians total control, ensures we never go too deep, and provides a much gentler experience for you.

Our Removal Process: The Acetone Truth

There is a lot of talk about acetone being drying, and while that’s true, we believe it is the safest way to remove product.

  • Why we soak: Using a drill to sand off gel often leads to thinning the natural nail.

Why we don't just "fill": We believe in a fresh start at every appointment. Filling gel can trap bacteria or moisture if there is even a tiny lift you can't see. By soaking off and starting over, we can inspect the health of your natural nail and ensure a perfect, sanitary bond every single time.

Why We Skip the Water Soak

Skipping the water soak ( a waterless manicure) improves polish longevity, prevents chipping, and ensures better nail health. Water causes nail plates to swell and expand; as they dry and contract, polish peels off faster. Nails are porous and, when soaked, can become too soft, leading to splitting or peeling. A dry manicure prevents this weakening.

Additionally, technicians can more accurately see and remove dead skin (cuticles) from the living skin (proximal fold) without the white, soggy appearance caused by water.  Instead of water, technicians use cuticle softeners, creams, and oils to hydrate and prep the nails, providing a cleaner, more precise, and durable manicure.

The Bottom Line: Our philosophy isn't about being right, it's about being responsible. We choose techniques that prioritize the long-term integrity of your nails over shortcuts.

We can’t wait to see you at your next appointment!
